The Level Two Program

The Level Two program, Clinical Ayurveda Health Educator, deepens the knowledge learned in Level One, preparing the student for, primarily, one-on-one work with clients.  The classes emphasize Vata, Pitta, and Kapha management as the doshas move into other systems of the body besides the digestive system, nervous system, and mind.  Protocols for correcting imbalances throughout the whole body are emphasized which include diet, lifestyle, and herbal remedies.

Pre-requisite: Level One Ayurveda Health Educator program or equivalent from another institution.

The program meets for twenty hours one weekend a month for ten months, September to June.  The dates and times for the 2012-2013 academic year are as follows:

Dates: September 7-9; October 12-14; November 2-4; November 30-December 1-2; January 4-6; February 1-3; March 1-3; April 5-7; May 3-5; May 31-June 1-2.

Times: Friday 6-9pm; Saturday 8am-5:30pm; Sunday 8am-3:30pm

The curriculum includes the following:

  • Ayurveda Pathogenesis
  • Refining assessment through the Ashtavidha Pariksha
  • Vata, Pitta, Kapha Management in all systems of the body
  • Herbal Preparations including making medicated ghees, oil, nasya oils, salves
  • Ayurveda Care of the Digestive System
  • Ayurveda Care of the Nervous System
  • Ayurveda Care of the Respiratory System
  • Ayurveda Care of the Cardiovascular System
  • Ayurveda Care of the Male Reproductive System
  • Ayurveda Care of the Urinary System
  • Ayurveda Care of the Women’s Reproductive System
  • Ayurveda Pre-Natal, Pregnancy, and Post Natal Care
  • Ayurveda Care of the Endocrine System
  • Ayurveda Care of the Immune System
  • 10 hours of basic Sanskrit instruction

*Each “Ayurveda Care of” class includes a review of Western physiology of that system; Ayurveda physiology of that system; primary herbs for that system; diet & lifestyle protocols for that system; managing Vata, Pitta, and Kapha in that system.

Requirements:

Students will be required to attend all scheduled weekends.  Bhavana Institute understands that adult students may have family or work commitments that may require absence.  It is the student’s responsibility to seek ways to receive the information missed and make up any learning inventories or assignments given.  Students missing more than 10% of scheduled meetings will not be awarded a certificate of completion until that time is made up to the satisfaction of the faculty.

Students will be required to take 8 learning inventories and pass with a grade of 70% or higher.

Students must complete all assignments to the satisfaction of the faculty.  Assignments during the year are primarily case studies that help students identify the effects of excess vata, pitta, and kapha on the systems of the body and how to manage those effects using Ayurveda diet, lifestyle, and herbal protocols.

Students must have access to a computer; an email address; and the capacity to download and print documents.

Competencies achieved:

At the end of this ten month course the student will be able to:

  • conduct a more refined assessment process
  • understand the effects of vata, pitta, and kapha as they move through all of the systems of the body;
  • make herbal preparations such as medicated ghees, oils, nasya oils, salves;
  • have a deeper and more thorough understanding of herbs

Tuition: $3600.

 

Payment Options

Option A: $3400 if paid in full before August 9.

Option B: $3600 made in four installments of $900 due by September 1; November 1; February 1; May 1.

Option C: $3700 made in 10 installments of $370 due by the first of every month starting with September 1. ($100 carrying fee).

Please note the tuition for the program is $3600 and must be paid in full whether or not the student attends all classes.  A certificate of completion will not be rewarded if all tuition is not paid.
