Bhavana Institute provides quality education in the perennial teachings of Ayurveda and Yoga.  The hallmark of education at Bhavana is a deep

Our Mission

Bhavana Institute for Yoga and Ayurveda is deeply committed to offering education rooted in the perennial teachings of Yoga and Ayurveda.  Our goal is to provide education that is transformative to students on every level of their being; that is applicable to their daily lives; and that will imbue the students with a sense of service to their clients, students, families, communities, and the world.

Our Directors

Patricia Layton and Kathleen Wright have been friends and colleagues since 1980.  They met in the Teacher Training Program at the Iyengar Yoga Institute of San Francisco.  Both Patricia and Kathleen were initiated into Yoga through the Himalayan Yoga Tradition in 1974, Patricia through Swami Rama and Kathleen through Dr. Arya, now Swami Veda.  Each has continued to work and study faithfully in their fields both in the US and India.  Together they bring over 70 years of knowledge and life-learning to these programs.

Our Yoga and Ayurveda Teacher Training and Certification Programs

Workshops and classes with Patricia and Kathleen qualify as Continuing Education credits for the Yoga Alliance Teachers Registry.  Both Kathleen and Patricia are E-RYT 500 (Experienced Registered Yoga Teachers).  Kathleen is a certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher at the Junior Intermediate Level.

The Ayurveda programs are affiliated with the Association of Ayurvedic Professionals of North America.
